Five friends explore The Devil's Mouth cave system in Thailand for one last adventure before life in the real world begins. But they soon discover that something is hunting them under the water... fast, silent, and deadly. In the suffocating darkness, trust erodes, panic spreads and every wrong turn becomes a fight for survival.

It's quite clever to put a shark movie in a dark cave. It does save a lot on the effect budget when you don't have to show the main antagonist with any degree of clarity. The characters are fun enough, even though they aren't very engaging, and they all get picked off one by one by a very angry fish just doing fish things. What I did like about this is that the fish isn't actually malicious or supernatural or vindictive, it just does fish things and that's pretty cool. For a cave movie this doesn't rate very high and as a shark movie, it doesn't rate much higher. It isn't a bad movie, but it isn't really all that special.
More of a Public Service Announcement or maybe an After School Special than this is a real movie review. I'm not going to say "Don't Watch This Movie' because, if you picked up a watery, Teen-Chop-A-Thon like this then I think you'll probably be perfectly satisfied with watching this flick. I'm writing this 'advisory' because I wish someone had done the same kindness for me. It would have saved me the sour taste this left in my mouth. You see, the first half of The Devil's Mouth is above average when it comes to this kinda movie. That's what made the second half hurt so much. If the first half hadn't spent the time developing real characters with some depth, characters that were actually interesting, then the disappointment of the second half wouldn't have been so.....well, sourly disappointing. Don't get me wrong, this isn't a bad movie. It starts with some teens who can keep your attention with their shrieking & screaming & fleeing in terror. That's why we watch these movies, right? But the second half pulls the ol' bait n' switch on us. SPOILER WARNING! It shifts from a bunch of victims desperately fleeing, trying to escape & stay alive, it changes into a 'let's fight that shark!'.....why? Look, if you've ever been trapped in a cave system with a vexed bull shark, & which of us hasn't? then you know the choice to go fistacuffs with an apex predator on it's home turf is just a dumb idea. Wow is it dumb. Anyhoo, enjoy the first half but know what's coming. I honestly believe that this warning will improve your viewing experience as you won't feel duped like I did. I genuinely hope this helps you. If it did, please let me know.
